Bandcamp best of: is an ongoing series to find cool bands on bandcamp.com, using tags.
The internet is so cool, amiright? We now have a better way of finding cool music without having to sift through annoying Myspace pages. Remember when Myspace was the place to be for music?
Remember Myspace?
Those bulletins everyone copied and pasted?
Anyway, Bandcamp has a lot of music (and A LOT of hip hop. Seriously. I could do a “best of” just from terrible album art and it would be all hip hop) and I’m going to sort through some gems for you.
Today’s tag of the day: DRUNK
A nice place to start, no?
The idea came from this sweet band, Born Unclez.
Think Thee Oh Sees’ Warm Slime (one of my favorite albums of 2010) or Burnt Ones’ Black Teeth & Golden Tongues. Notice how all three bands are from CA? Yep, fuzzy melodic garage rock jams.
Hm, we seem to be having a similar “beach” sound coming through here. These dudes are from the Cape. Reminds me of the Pomegranates’ Osidius the Emphatic – remember that band? Remember how serious we all used to be about music those days? Music for a warm, sunny day on the porch overlooking the ocean.
Best. Title. Ever. I know you know.
Drunk radical rock from Baltimore. I dig. This is the music you here in your head when you’ve had too much whiskey.
Honorable mention to Mikey Chuck Rivers. Beer and drinking surrounds every song and album.
